I recently read a great article on USA Today about E-Learning and whether or not reading text books on an ipad or kindle is as effective as reading the classic print book. The article brings up some great points and I suggest reading it here: http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2010-08-10-ebooklearning10_CV_N.htm
There was a line at the end of the article that is even further evidence that online yearbooks are the future of yearbooks. The third paragraph from the bottom of the page states: “two-thirds of campus technology chiefs predicted last fall that e-books will become an ‘important platform for instructional resources’ within five years, according to the Campus Computing Project.”
For e-books to be integral, e-readers have to be integral, and as e-readers evolve, Lifepages.com will be evolving apps for them. It isn’t hard to imagine a day, in the not that distant future, that on the day college yearbooks are released, every single student simply receives an alert on their ipad / kindle / iphone / droid or whatever device is popular at the time, and they are able to instantly view the yearbook from wherever they are.
What are your thoughts? Will e-books replace text books? Will digital, online yearbooks replace the printed book?
